Basic Two over One
The basic philosophy of the 'Two over One' system is that a response at the two level to
partner's opening
guarantees an opening hand and is forcing to game.
Jump responses are usually weak; sometimes they are used to describe specific features.
The principle of fast arrival is advocatd here, for example,
if a game force has been established, bidding game shows a minimum hand,
whereas, bidding less than game explores the possibilities of slam.
Weak jump raises and weak jump shifts are used extensively.
The Law of Total Tricks is used to as a guide to ascertain the level to jump to.
A response of 1 NT to a major is forcing for one round and is semi-forcing by
a passed hand.
