CRASH

CRASH, short for Color RAnk SHape, was devised to be used against strong 1 Club and 2 Club openings.
However, it could be used to overcall 1 No Trump.
It takes into account three kinds of 2-suiter in an either-or situation.

Double 2-suiter of same COLOR - either reds or blacks
i.e. overcaller has EITHER diamonds and hearts OR clubs and spades

2 C 2-suiter of same RANK - either majors or minors
i.e. overcaller has EITHER hearts and spades OR clubs and diamonds

2 D 2-suiter of same SHAPE - either rounded or pointed
i.e. overcaller has EITHER clubs and hearts OR diamonds and spades

Responder bids the lowest playable suit assuming it was a CRASH suit.
Opener corrects if it is not one of opener's suit.

A modified version of CRASH is used to overcall over a strong 1C.
The double, 1D and 1H retain their usual meaning.
1S shows a one-suited hand.
1N, 2C, 2D, 2H shows either shortage or length in the suit above it.
After 1C opening and 1D response, the 1S bid is not available, but all other bids retain their meaning.
