VA - Weak 2 Opening


Flannery (described at the bottom) or Mini-Roman is used for 2 diamond bid.

The requirement for an opening weak 2 bid in a major is 6 - 10 points and a 6 card suit.
2 No Trump is an artificial response asking more about shortness in the opener's hand.
3C is an artificial bid asking about a feature.

The raise of a weak 2 bid is preemptive while other bids are forcing.
The acronym RONF (Raise only non force) is used to remember this.

Flannery

Flannery is a specialized convention to bid a minimum opening hand with 5/6 hearts and 4 spades.
It is diffficult to bid such a hand in Standard American or Two over One, and so this bid fills a gap in constructive bidding.
